Hey guys!
Today I’d like to introduce the MTC Betting Pool to you. It’s a little website, where you can place bets on the MTC participants, and win some coppers. I’ve been running the site for exactly one year now, but only supported the United MTC. Some guys on United TMX suggested supporting the Nations MTC as well, because many of you guys have TMU.
Here's a list of the new features in this version: • support for both MTCs • cleaner layout • new menu • support for all special characters, even chinese ones • new statistics-page • automatic timezone detection • 100% AJAX-powered
The betting system is pretty simple: you can buy credits, the currency used on the site, by sending some coppers to ‘jenox’ in-game. Please note that this does not happen automatically! With these credits, you can make bets, donate’em or simply convert them back into coppers. When you want to place a bet, you have to choose a contest, a participant and the amount of coppers you’d like to bet. As soon as the results are posted, betting is closed and the results will appear shortly. The total winning pot consists of 90% of the bet credits, and will be given to the users who made a correct bet. The higher your wager is, the more you can win.
Example: • User #1 bets 1000 credits on the winner • User #2 bets 500 credits on the winner • the other users bet 2500 credits on someone, who didn’t win • the winning pot consists of 3600 credits (4000 * 0.9) • User #1 will win 2400 credits, User #2 1200 ones (because User #1’s wager was twice as high)
I hope that you like the idea of placing bets within the MTC, and that many of you guys will sign up and make some bets. Finally, here's the link to the site: MTC Betting Pool Good luck!
Greetz, Jenox
PS: Sorry for the delay, I didn't finish the update fast enough. Next month, it will be ready on time.
If you find any bug, please notify me! |

I just noticed that the 'Statistics' page is not supported by IE. I'm sorry for that, but I'm afraid I won't be able fix it.
Debugging is really hard in IE, and I won't waste time for supporting the worst browser - please, get Chrome! |

I have an idea. In commonly gambled events such as horse racing (at least in USA), each competitor is given odds, or their chance of winning. The structure is different from the 'winner(s) take(s) the total' method here. Here's an example:
User A is an experienced trackmaker and generally favored to win. User B is a newer user, with less experience, and is more of an underdog.
The resulting odds would be something like 3:2 on A and 5:1 on B. This means that a bet on A returns 1.5 times the amount of the bet placed should he win, while a bet on B returns 4 times the amount of the bet placed should he win.
Granted, it's a harder system to establish, but then again, it's just a thought |

Bucky, I think it will be like this anyway. Probably more people will bet on the experienced user, so the person who bets on the unexperienced user and wins will probably win a bigger amount. |

Bucky, I can really understand your point of view! I already thought about such a system, too...
But actually, I don't have enough time to test all entries, calculate the odds, etc...
Edit: Any bets? |

regarding the odds system ... first of all, TMX is not a competition type of site ... you'd have to have the users compete with one another on a daily basis ... to have very detailed statistics about each user, chances to win would be based on the previous (and numerous) competition entries and performance ... so there's no way we can calculate good and reliable statistics about each user on this site ... because all we have are awards (which are highly subjective) and just a few other competition running atm. ... secondly, in the MTCs we have TMX users judging other TMX users and in some cases (like the previous contest) you have only a few judges so the trustworthiness of the whole competition is questionable you'd have to have much more judges and a thoroughly planned judging system, to really have the MTC be considered a serious competition ... just my point of view |

hmmm.. so let me get this straight
Example 2: • User #1 bets 1000 credits on the winner • User #2 bets 500 credits on the winner • User #3 bets 2500 credits on the winner • the winning pot consists of 3600 credits (4000 * 0.9) • User #1 will lose 100 credits, User #2 loses 50 and user 3 loses 250 credits

hehe, what's the minimum/maximum bet? as with the following example winners still lose, even if there are losers
Example 3: • User #1 bets 2500 credits on the winner • User #2 bets 2500 credits on the winner • User #3 bets 2500 credits on the winner • User #4 bets 2500 credits on the winner rest of the users bet a total of 1000 credits • the winning pot consists of 9.900 credits (11.000 * 0.9) • User #1-4 will lose 25 credits |
