Welcome to the Monthly Track Contest once again.

This month's theme will require Unlimiter 1.3 therefore if you haven't yet seen or downloaded/set up the new unlimiter, here's your chance! This month's theme also is a suggestion from   SapphiroN back in 2016 from the suggestions topic.

Redesign A01

A01 tracks have always been iconic entries in the Nadeo campaigns, giving the player a first look on the new features and teaching new faces the basics of car handling. Now, you are tasked to redesign this classic track for Trackmania Nations Forever. It should introduce some basic driving mechanics with an easy driving line, lots of room for mistakes, and some great moments that make Trackmania the great game it is. It might not be as easy and simple as you'd imagine.

I think this is a great suggestion especially since there's a new blockmixing tool available for the community to use, so why not try and make some maps that will allow the community to experiment with some creativity but also to create some nice competition too.

RULES
-You have to use unlimiter1.3

There's no real rules this month apart from the above one, so here's some tips and things to think about when building...

TIPS
-Make the map relatively easy to play
-Try to experiment with the blocks and options available to you
-A01 maps are relatively short so that the players get used to the new enviourment...
-Try to make your maps somewhat competitive to play too.

IMPORTANT
-Topic rule: Make only 1 post for your released entry, using a FULL sized link
-Track rule: Name your track "(MTC) TrackName" (for ex: "MTC - Infinity")
-(the track names MUST include the tag "MTC" here on TMX)
-Competition rule: Already existing tracks (released or in the beta area) are not allowed
-Do NOT edit your entry track AFTER the deadline has been announced
(any violation of the 'competition rules' can disqualify your track from the contest)

JUDGING SYSTEM
-Creativity - 10 Points possible
we judge: the creativity, the route, the concept, the overall track ...
-Fun - 10 Points possible
we judge : the hunting potential, the player-friendly factor, the challenges, the smoothness ...
-Overall Looks - 10 Points possible
we judge : the overall scenery design, the visual moments, the Intro / In-game / Outro MT ...

DEADLINE
The track submission deadline is Sunday, the 19th of August 2018
(You have to submit your entries between and including the 1st and the 19th of this month)

PRIZE
The Winner gets a showcase track of his/her choosing, on the Frontpage
and, of course, the pride and respect you get within the community for winning a MTC

GOOD LUCK
Please allow a day or two for clarifications in case of rules / theme adjustments
Don't start building senseless wait a few moments and keep an eye on this topic

Hello, Ive had a problem as apparently a lot of other people had as well, basicaly i cant get the 1.3 to work and it tells me "Failed to find TmForever.exe!". Am i allowed to use 1.2 features only?

You have to place the unlimiter in the same folder as your game and then create a shortcut to desktop if you want to launch the game from the Desktop.

I'm hoping someone (i.e shortz) will make a YouTube video explaining how to install unlimiter1.3 amd how to use some of the features but we'll see.

To reach those who did not install UL 1.3 (like me) it sure would be nice to have a video of each authos's replay.

I just tried to open Rioyter's map with the old UL 0.4 but I couldn't because of some ESL_* (Stadium) blocks. But even if I had succeeded, I never would have been able to see the map the way it was intended.

So whoever has the time to make a video, please do so.

So, if i make a map now, i will have a guaranteed 2nd place? Sad that i cant download 1.3 cuz errors. I feel really bad for tomek. He worked really hard for newest TmUnlimiter and very few people really use it. :/ I actually know this feeling very well, i put a lot of work to my maps (maybe not many decorations, but enjoyable and creative gameplay) and people dont like most of them at all. Im sorry that i still use 0.4.2 :C

The thing is that the vanilla version of trackmania already allows us to create many things very simply. But, although TMunlimiter is a magnificent tool, it is still very complicated to understand. If the guide were supported by videos, I think it would allow a lot of people to get started.

I promised myself that I would not upload any tracks that I would not have completely finished. Once again, I lacked organization and determination to complete my project, but I still wanted to share with you my work and the difficulties I encountered.

My map : "[1.3] MTC August - Redesign A01 by   LeTrefleNoir"

Installing the latest version of TMunlimiter was simple thanks to a detailed guide, and if you are motivated to learn, the interface is rather intuitive.
On the other hand, the calculation of the shadows of dynamic blocks is a disaster.
And the block selection mode could be improved on two points:
- selecting several blocks at the same time would allow to change their mode in one click,
- showing only the blocks of a certain group could be useful to select a block hidden by another.

Some other problems I was able to identify :
. On the ground, when you make a visible block invisible, it creates a hole.
. Checkpoints and finishes must be collidable to work, but a non-collidable checkpoint makes the track unplayable because the game thinks the checkpoint must be taken while it is impossible.
. A non-collidable invisible block crossed by the car creates a camera bug.
. I don't know if there is any other way to reverse the blocks than to rotate them 180°, but with this method, it is impossible to create continuous routes with the "StadiumRoadMain" block.
. When viewing a replay, invisible blocks made visible in game do not appear, while visible blocks made invisible do not disappear.
. When you place the start arrow on a block, you cannot control the start direction.
. An invisible finish keeps its brightness.
. On my track, pieces of the big invisibles structures appear. The game must consider them as two separate blocks, but it is impossible to switch the structure piece in dynamic mode, unless you connect it to another block that is in dynamic mode. So I could have got around it that way, but I was lazy.

A last word for Tomek and all those who participated in the development of TMunlimiter. Although this month, this mtc has not had many participations, I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised to see how your work will be used in the future.
